Last year I was lucky enough to be able to get myself a 3D printer - the Bambu Labs A1 Mini - and it has changed the way I use my smart home!
I started 3D printing because I wanted a way to be even lazier than I was, and have a robot finger push a button on my record player so I didn’t have to get up to start it. It worked; but only until I needed to switch to the B-Side!
Once that project had been done, I turned my eye to the other areas of my smart home and what could be achieved. Luckily, there is a fantastic community of Aqara users with 3D printers online and some of their solutions have been fantastic.
The first was a plug socket holder for the G4 doorbell’s chime. A neat solution to keep it all close to the outlet, without the need to stick the chime to the wall (great if you’re renting) and if you wrap the wire behind the chime itself, you can barely see that it’s there.
Next up, came the FP2. Because I wanted to get the best view of the room that I could possibly get, the corner was the obvious solution. A short time later, the corner bracket was printed. This couldn’t been stuck to the wall with some 3M tape, but I chose to pin it in, meaning there are only a couple of small holes to patch when/if I move it. The wall mount then simply hooks onto the back piece for the FP2 and it’s done.
I recently got a puppy, and anyone that’s had one before knows they can be terrors when you have to leave them alone. So I invested in the G100 camera to keep an eye on him when I’m out. But, how do you keep the aesthetic of your room and not have cables everywhere? Simple! Print some covers for your wooden wall slats so you can hide them as they go up the wall to the camera. And the best part is, it also helps to give the TV a ‘floating’ look as well.
