A Day with Govee LED RGB Strips and ESPHome Sensors

I’ve been exploring the world of smart home devices lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! Today, I wanted to share my experience with Govee LED RGB strips and how I’ve been working with ESPHome sensors to enhance my setup. :star2:

First off, I’ve been absolutely thrilled with my Govee LED RGB strips. The vibrant colors and smooth transitions have completely transformed my living space. However, I did come across a question that I thought might be useful to others: Is it possible to connect a battery power supply to Govee LED RGB strips? If anyone has any insights on this, I’d greatly appreciate the help!

Moving on to ESPHome, I’ve been diving into the settings of my APDS9960 sensors. These sensors have been a bit of a puzzle for me, as I’ve noticed inconsistent results. Some are far less sensitive than others, and I’ve even encountered issues where the ambient light sensor seems to be disabled. I’ve been wondering if it’s possible to read and set the registers of these sensors directly through ESPHome. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear your tips or tricks! :brain:

On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with different color combinations on my dashboard. There’s something truly magical about how the right color scheme can set the mood for the entire room. I’ve found that a mix of warm whites and soft reds creates a calming yet inviting atmosphere, perfect for unwinding in the evenings. :bulb:

Lastly, I wanted to mention a little victory I had today. I’ve been using Fully-Kiosk to display my Home Assistant dashboard on a wall-mounted tablet, and while it’s been working smoothly for the most part, I did run into an issue where small slides weren’t being recognized as touches. After some research and tweaking, I managed to adjust the settings to make it more responsive. It’s such a relief to have that problem sorted out! :tada:

All in all, it’s been a productive day filled with learning and experimentation. I’m excited to see what new discoveries tomorrow will bring! If you have any questions or tips, feel free to share them below. Let’s keep the smart home community growing! :rocket:
