Hey everyone! I wanted to share a fun project I did recently with my Govee RGBWW bulbs. I came across an old IKEA pendant lamp at a thrift store and decided to give it a new life with some smart tech. Here’s what I did:
I took an old IKEA pendant lamp and combined it with a scrap kitchen cupboard I found on clearance. I mounted it on the wall next to my fireplace using some L brackets and cable concealer. It’s a unique twist since most people hang these pendants from the ceiling!
I installed a Govee RGBWW bulb and it’s been a hit! The color-changing feature is perfect for different moods and it gets compliments every time guests come over. People even say it looks a bit like a mini Death Star, which is a fun bonus!
Here’s a quick tip for anyone doing a similar project: make sure your mounting brackets are secure, especially if you’re wall-mounting something that wasn’t originally designed for it. Also, test the bulb settings before final installation to ensure everything works smoothly.
I’m curious to hear how others have repurposed old lighting fixtures with smart bulbs. Have any of you tried something similar or have creative ideas for old lamps? I’d love to hear your stories and maybe get some inspiration for my next project!
Happy tinkering everyone! ![]()
