Hey everyone! I wanted to share a fun experience I had setting up my smart home. It all started when I decided to upgrade my lighting system. I’ve been using Fibaro FGS-223 relays and Philio PAN04-1B modules with my Vera Plus controller, and I must say, they’ve been a great addition. The integration process was smooth, and I love how I can control everything from my phone or through voice commands.
One of the most exciting projects was setting up a color-changing light strip in my living room. I used Govee Pixel RGBIC LED strips and paired them with a Sonos Playbar for a cinematic experience. It’s amazing how the lights sync with the music! I even created an automation where the lights dim and change color when it’s late at night, creating a cozy ambiance.
However, setting up the automation wasn’t without its hiccups. I initially struggled with getting the lights to loop through different colors smoothly. After some research and tweaking, I finally got it working using a Scene in Home Assistant. Here’s a quick tip: using transitions and delays can make your animations look much smoother!
Another fun project was integrating my Xbox console with my smart home setup. I set up a presence sensor that detects when I’m home and automatically turns on the TV and gaming lights. It’s such a small thing, but it adds so much convenience!
I’d love to hear about your smart home setups and any cool automations you’ve created. Let’s share and inspire each other to make our homes even smarter and more enjoyable! ![]()
