A Smart Home Setup Journey: Cameras, Thermostats, and More

Hello everyone! I’m excited to share my journey of setting up a smart home system. It’s been a mix of triumphs and challenges, and I’d love to hear your experiences too!

Starting with Cameras
I recently set up several Wyze cameras in my home, and I must say, they’ve been a game-changer. However, I noticed something peculiar—my cameras in Mississippi and Virginia were not adjusting to daylight saving time correctly. It was a bit frustrating, but I managed to sync them manually. I wonder if anyone else has faced this issue or has a better solution.

Thermostat Adventures
Switching from a Nest Thermostat to a Honeywell Prestige IAQ system was quite the adventure. The Honeywell system has a remote with ‘Away’ and ‘Home’ modes, which I love. I’m curious if anyone has integrated this system with their smart home setup or knows how to trigger these modes programmatically. :thermometer:

Device Integration Challenges
I’ve also been working on integrating various devices, like the Schlage Z-Wave locks and Shelly sensors. It’s been a learning experience, especially figuring out why some devices don’t show up on Alarm.com. If anyone has tips on ensuring all devices are recognized and functional, I’d be grateful! :unlock:

Energy Monitoring
Another area I’m exploring is energy monitoring. I set up an energy dashboard, but it’s only showing the total meter reading, not the individual devices. It’s a bit puzzling. Does anyone know how to configure it to display both the total and individual device consumption? :bar_chart:

Conclusion
Setting up a smart home is a continuous learning process, filled with both excitement and challenges. I’m grateful for communities like this where I can share experiences and learn from others. If you’ve got any tips, tricks, or stories to share, I’d love to hear them! Let’s make our smart homes even smarter together! :rocket:
