Recently, I embarked on an exciting project to integrate my Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen with Homey, aiming to create a seamless smart home experience. As someone who has been using SmartThings for years, the transition to Homey was a bit daunting, but the results have been nothing short of amazing.
One of the highlights of this setup has been the ability to use Sharptools to create custom dashboards. I’ve been able to consolidate all my devices—lights, thermostats, motion sensors, and door sensors—into one intuitive interface. It’s incredibly satisfying to have everything at my fingertips, whether I’m controlling the lights from my phone or monitoring the house from the office.
I also wanted to share a tip for anyone looking to achieve a similar setup. The key was ensuring that all devices were properly paired and that the Homey integration was correctly configured. I found that using the HomeyDash concept provided a solid foundation, and with a bit of tweaking, I was able to customize the interface to my liking.
As I continue to explore the possibilities with Homey and Google Nest, I’m excited to see how this integration can evolve. Whether it’s adding new devices or refining the existing setup, the journey has been both challenging and rewarding. I’d love to hear from others who have undertaken similar projects—what have been your biggest successes and challenges?
