A Smooth Migration from Raspberry Pi to Intel NUC

I wanted to share my experience of migrating from a Raspberry Pi 3 to an Intel NUC, which might be helpful for others considering a similar upgrade. After two years of reliable service, my Pi started showing signs of strain, especially with multiple devices and integrations. The decision to migrate was driven by the need for better performance and reliability.

The process involved several key steps, from updating the NUC’s firmware to installing Ubuntu Server and setting up Home Assistant. One of the most seamless parts was migrating my existing configuration using a Snapshot. I was pleasantly surprised that my Z-Wave and Zigbee setups worked without any tweaks.

Now, with the Intel NUC, I’ve noticed significant improvements in system responsiveness and automation speed. The ability to run additional Docker containers for custom projects has been a bonus. If you’re contemplating an upgrade, I highly recommend exploring this option—it’s been a game-changer for my setup!
