After years of using SmartThings, I decided to take the plunge and migrate my entire setup to Hubitat. Let me share my experience with you!
I started with a few Philips Hue bulbs and some Logitech Harmony remotes, relying heavily on IFTTT for automation. While SmartThings was functional, it never felt as intuitive or powerful as I hoped. Then, I stumbled upon Hubitat, and everything changed.
The migration process was surprisingly smooth, thanks to Hubitat’s robust integration capabilities. I quickly discovered that Hubitat is far more powerful than SmartThings. The ability to create complex, local automations without relying on the cloud has been a game-changer for me. Notifications are more reliable, and the system feels faster and more responsive.
Just as I was getting comfortable, I received news that IFTTT was moving to a paid subscription model. This was a pivotal moment. Instead of reluctantly paying for IFTTT, I realized I could achieve everything I needed—and more—right within Hubitat. This was the perfect opportunity to fully embrace Hubitat and say goodbye to IFTTT.
Now, I’m completely hooked! Hubitat has opened up a world of possibilities, and I find myself constantly tinkering and exploring new ways to automate my home. From controlling lights to managing my entertainment system, everything feels more integrated and seamless.
If you’re considering switching from SmartThings or any other platform, I highly recommend giving Hubitat a try. The local automation feature alone is worth the switch, and the community support is fantastic!
I can’t wait to see what the future holds for my smart home journey. Thanks to everyone in this community for sharing their knowledge and experiences—it truly makes a difference!
Cheers,
