AC controller and sensor and Aqara

I’m curious why Aqara still doesn’t offer a really complete all-in-one product for controlling air conditioning comfortably.

For example, the W100 is a very interesting product, especially because of its screen and physical controls. But for AC control, it still feels like some important features are missing:

• It only runs on batteries, with no option to power it permanently if you want a fixed wall installation.
• It doesn’t have built-in infrared, which would make it much more useful as a universal AC remote.
• To actually control an infrared air conditioner, you need to add other Aqara accessories, which makes the setup more complex than it should be.

It also feels like a missed opportunity that Aqara’s more advanced wall panels with larger screens are mainly designed around underfloor heating or specific HVAC installations.

I would love to see a product combining:

• A nice touchscreen/display
• Physical temperature controls
• USB-C or wired permanent power, with battery as an option
• Built-in IR blaster
• Temperature and humidity sensors
• Direct integration with Aqara Home, Matter and automations
• A clean wall-mounted design

Basically, one single Aqara device that could replace a traditional AC remote, display the room temperature and become the main climate control panel for the room.

I think this could be a really useful product, especially in Europe and other markets where split AC units with infrared remotes are extremely common.

Is something like this already planned on Aqara’s roadmap? And would anyone else be interested in this kind of product?

Hi @romain_cordeiro! There are already some hubs (M3, M200, M2, G3, G350) with a IR Blaster on board. Also with the great option to control ACs

Maybe that’s an option for you!
A standalone device with display is not on any roadmap I know…
But maybe in some future

I use Aqara temperature and humidity sensors as room references in Home Assistant, with presence helping decide when the AC should react. My AC is controlled through an API, including airflow direction, so I do not need infrared for that unit. A physical wall controller would be most useful to me if it stayed in sync when an automation changes the climate settings.

I have not used the W100, so I cannot judge its current behavior. For a future controller, I would prioritize two-way state sync: a physical adjustment should update the automation, and an API-driven adjustment should update the display. Built-in IR would also help people with traditional split AC units.

Hey there and welcome to the forum.here I am using my M3 as @DEChrisE mentioned and I also have my W100 set as an thermostat witch can also control the AC with those 3 buttons and it works perfectly also I made automations when to turn it ON and OFF
