Achieving Individual Hue Light Customization with a Dimmer Switch

Hey all, I wanted to share my journey of setting up my Hue lights to achieve something pretty cool. I have three lights in my living room, and I wanted to be able to control each one individually using a Hue Dimmer Switch. My goal was to assign different colors to each light, and I imagined something like this: * Press the first button once to select light 1, twice for light 2, and thrice for light 3. * Then, press the second button to cycle through colors for the selected light. However, I quickly realized that there’s no built-in “select” or “set active light” action in the Hue app. After some research and experimentation, here’s what I figured out: 1. Using Scenes: I created individual scenes for each light, assigning a unique color to each. This way, when I press the dimmer switch, it triggers the corresponding scene. 2. Automation Rules: I set up automation rules in the Hue app to link the dimmer switch presses to the specific scenes. It took a bit of tweaking, but it finally worked! 3. Tips for Others: If you’re trying to achieve similar customization, I recommend starting with simple scenes and gradually adding more complex automations. Also, don’t hesitate to explore third-party apps or integrations that might offer more flexibility. I’m super happy with how it turned out, and it’s been a great learning experience. If anyone has more tips or alternative solutions, I’d love to hear them! :star2:
