I recently upgraded my smart home setup by integrating Philips Hue lights with Google Assistant through the Homey hub. While the integration itself went smoothly, I encountered an issue with activating Hue scenes using voice commands. Previously, I could simply say, ‘Hey Google, activate Film Watching,’ and the lights would adjust perfectly. However, after switching to Homey, this functionality stopped working. I researched and found that directly linking Hue to Google Home wasn’t feasible without duplicating devices, which would complicate managing my 130 lamps.
After some trial and error, I discovered that Homey allows scene automation without needing direct Google Home integration. I set up a rule where saying, ‘Hey Google, turn on Film Watching mode,’ triggers Homey to activate the corresponding Hue scene. This workaround maintains the seamless experience I desired. It’s been a learning process, but it’s rewarding to see everything work together smoothly now. If anyone has similar setup questions or tips, I’d love to hear them!
