I recently discovered the joy of using adaptive lighting for my smart lights, and it’s been a game-changer for my home setup!
I started by using the F.lux app on my laptop, which adjusts the screen brightness based on the time of day, reducing eye strain. Inspired by this, I wanted to apply the same concept to my smart lights. Initially, I divided my day into three parts: daytime with cool 4000K lights for energy, warm 3000K lights in the evening for relaxation, and very warm 2000K lights at night to aid sleep. However, I stumbled upon Apple HomeKit’s ‘Adaptive Lighting’ feature, which automates this process seamlessly. I also found a great Home Assistant integration called ‘Adaptive Lighting’ that allows even more customization. Setting it up was straightforward, and the default settings worked perfectly right out of the box. I was so impressed that I even disabled my old manual automations. Now, my lights automatically adjust based on the time of day and my activities, making my home feel more comfortable and efficient than ever. If you’re looking to enhance your smart lighting setup, I highly recommend giving adaptive lighting a try! ![]()
