Hi everyone, I’m looking to add an extra layer of security to my garage door control setup. Currently, I have a simple switch on my dashboard that activates a ZEN51 dry contact relay to open my garage door. While this setup works perfectly, I want to prevent accidental activation, especially with kids around.
I’ve noticed that the lock template in the UI includes a handy “Are You Sure” confirmation dialog, which is great for preventing accidental unlocks. I was wondering if there’s a way to implement a similar confirmation step for my garage door switch.
Here’s what I’m thinking: when I press the switch, a modal dialog should pop up asking me to confirm the action. Only after confirming should the relay activate. This would be a great way to avoid false triggers.
I’ve explored the possibility of modifying the switch card or using a different template, but I’m not entirely sure how to proceed. Maybe there’s a way to use a custom card or a frontend modification to achieve this. Any suggestions or examples would be greatly appreciated!
Alternatively, if there’s a way to use a rule or automation to add this confirmation step, that would also work. I’m open to any creative solutions that the community can offer.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas and experiences with similar setups. Let’s make my garage door as secure as possible!
Best regards,
