Adjusting Light Brightness Based on Time in Homey

I wanted to share my experience with setting up a flow in Homey to adjust the brightness of my hallway lights based on the time of day. After some trial and error, I managed to create a seamless solution that automatically dims the lights after 23:30 without triggering the motion sensor flow. Here’s how I did it:

  1. Understanding the Problem: The hallway lights were too bright at night, but I still wanted them to be bright during the evening when I was active. The challenge was to dim the lights after a certain time without turning them off completely, which would break the existing motion sensor flow.

  2. Setting Up the Flow: I used the built-in time condition in Homey to check the current time. If it was after 23:30, I programmed the lights to gradually dim to 1% brightness. This was achieved using the dimmer capability of the lights.

  3. Testing and Adjustments: I tested the flow multiple times to ensure it didn’t interfere with the motion sensor. After some tweaking, everything worked perfectly! The lights now dim automatically at night, providing just enough light without being too harsh.

  4. Benefits: This setup has made my hallway much more comfortable at night. My girlfriend no longer finds the lights too bright, and I still have the convenience of motion-activated lighting during the evening.

I hope this helps anyone looking to create a similar setup. It’s amazing how Homey allows for such precise automation! Thanks to the community for the inspiration and support. :star2:
