Aeon Labs ZW075-A02 Power Monitoring Setup Guide

I recently purchased the Aeon Labs ZW075-A02 Smart Switch with the expectation of monitoring power usage for my laundry setup. However, I encountered some confusion when pairing the device, as it appeared as a ‘Z Wave Secure Switch’ without the metering functionality I was hoping for. After some research and trial and error, I thought I’d share my journey and solution here in case others are facing similar challenges!

Initially, I tried selecting the ‘Z Wave Metering Switch’ device type, but it didn’t seem to be polling correctly. I was worried I might have chosen the wrong device or that there was a compatibility issue. After some digging through forums and documentation, I realized that while the device does support metering, it might require specific configuration adjustments.

Here’s what worked for me:

  1. Device Type Selection: Stick with the ‘Z Wave Metering Switch’ type. It does support power monitoring, but might need additional setup.
  2. Polling Configuration: I had to manually adjust the polling settings in my hub to ensure the metering data was being collected at appropriate intervals.
  3. Firmware Check: Ensure your device firmware is up to date. Sometimes, older firmware versions can cause metering issues.
  4. Integration with Apps: Once the metering data started flowing, I was able to successfully integrate it with the Laundry Monitor app for energy tracking.

It was a bit of a puzzle, but breaking it down step by step helped me get everything working smoothly. If anyone else is struggling with similar setup issues, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to help troubleshoot!

Happy automating! :rocket:
