Aeotec Multisensor Gen5 and Z-Wave Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I’m reaching out for some guidance on setting up my Aeotec Multisensor Gen5 with OpenHAB. I’m relatively new to this ecosystem, and while I’ve managed to get some devices working, the Z-Wave integration has been a bit of a puzzle for me. Let me walk you through what I’ve done so far and where I’m hitting a snag.

First off, I’ve been using a Z-Stick S2 as my controller, and previously, everything worked seamlessly under Home-Assistant. I followed the standard procedure: excluding nodes, plugging in the stick, binding the Z-Wave-Serial-Controller, and configuring the serial port. Everything seemed to go smoothly until I tried adding the Aeotec Multisensor Gen5.

Here’s where things get a bit tricky. When I attempt to include the sensor, I encounter an error message: ‘unknown device - node 14’. Despite adding it to my list of things, I can’t seem to get any activity from the device in my logs. The event.log file shows no signs of life from the Z-Wave devices, and even the basic ‘sof’ and ‘ack’ signals from the stick have ceased after just a few entries.

To make matters more frustrating, when I try to update the sensor’s configurations through the PaperUI, I’m met with a ‘500 - Internal Server Error’. This has left me unable to control my Z-Wave devices effectively, which is quite disheartening, especially as I’m racing against time to complete my thesis on open-source smart home systems.

I recall that Home-Assistant automatically installs the OpenZWave Control Panel, but my attempts to replicate this setup in OpenHAB haven’t been successful. Is there a comprehensive, up-to-date tutorial that could guide me through this process? Or perhaps an alternative method to regain proper control over my Z-Wave network?

I’m truly grateful for any insights or suggestions you might have. This community has been a fantastic resource, and I’m hopeful that with your help, I can get my Z-Wave devices up and running smoothly again. Thanks in advance for your time and assistance!
