Hi everyone, I’m excited to share my experience with the Aeotec Siren Gen 5 and how I’ve been working to optimize its functionality in my smart home setup. As a relatively new user to VeraSecure, I’ve been experimenting with integrating various devices, and the Aeotec Siren Gen 5 has been a fascinating component to work with.
I’ve successfully set up multiple 2GIG door sensors, and the siren has been working perfectly as an alarm when these sensors are tripped while the system is armed. However, I recently added a 2GIG DBELL1 doorbell, and I wanted to create a scene where the doorbell triggers the siren. The challenge here is that the siren currently emits an alarm-type sound, which is great for security but not ideal for a doorbell chime. I’m curious if anyone has figured out a way to configure the siren to produce a different sound when triggered by the doorbell, perhaps a softer, more melodic tone that’s suitable for a doorbell.
I’ve been exploring the VeraSecure interface and the Aeotec siren’s settings, but I haven’t found a straightforward way to assign different sounds to different triggers. It would be fantastic if the siren could have multiple sound profiles, allowing me to use it both as a security alarm and a doorbell chime. If anyone has any tips or workarounds for achieving this dual functionality, I’d be grateful for the advice!
In the meantime, I’ll keep experimenting with the settings and see if I can find a solution. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to see how I can further customize my smart home setup. Thanks to the community for all the support and shared knowledge!
