Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with Alarmo and how I finally resolved an issue that was driving me crazy. I’ve been setting up Alarmo with 5 door sensors and 2 motion sensors, and I noticed something odd right from the start. Whenever I tried to arm the system in either Away or Home mode, Alarmo would still get armed even if one or more sensors were open. That’s definitely not what I wanted, nor what the documentation suggested should happen.
At first, I thought maybe I was misunderstanding how the system worked. I checked the Developer Tools/States and watched the attributes of my alarm control panel. When I activated a door sensor, the open_sensors attribute remained null, which was confusing. Then, when I tried arming the system while the sensor was still activated, I noticed that after the 30-second delay, one of my sensors was marked as bypassed, even though I hadn’t selected the bypass option in the alarm panel.
I did some digging and reached out to the community for help. Turns out, this behavior might be related to how Alarmo handles sensor states during arming. After some experimentation, I realized that the issue was with how the sensors were being detected during the arming process. By adjusting the sensor configurations and ensuring that all sensors were properly registered, I managed to get the system to behave as expected.
Here’s what I learned:
- Double-check your sensor configurations to ensure they’re properly registered with Alarmo.
- If you’re experiencing similar issues, try resetting the sensor states or re-pairing them with the system.
- Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for support—it’s a fantastic resource!
I hope this helps anyone else who’s struggling with similar issues. Happy automating! ![]()
