All sensors are offline

Our service provider (Bell) changed our network from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz. All our sensors are now offline. What is the easiest way to reconnect them?

@clsasonni It sounds like you’re dealing with a common issue when switching your network from 5GHz to 2.4GHz. To reconnect your Aqara sensors, you will need to go through the process of re-adding them to your network. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you:

  1. Re-add the Hub: First, ensure your hub is connected to the new 2.4GHz network. You can do this by accessing the Aqara Home app, going to the accessories section, and selecting the plus sign to add your hub again. Enter the new network information when prompted.

  2. Reconnect the Sensors: Once your hub is reconnected, move on to your sensors. Each sensor will need to be individually reconnected. Here are some general steps:

    • High Precision Motion Sensor: If your motion sensor is offline, ensure it’s within range of the hub and try to add it again. If issues persist, check the battery and replace it if necessary.
    • Motion and Light Sensor P2: Ensure the sensor is close to the hub and try to add it again. Make sure your hub supports the Thread protocol if required.
    • Motion Sensor P1: Move the sensor closer to the hub and add it again. Ensure your hub isn’t overloaded with more than 32 accessories.
  3. Avoid Special Characters: When setting up your new network, avoid using special characters in your Wi-Fi name or password, as they can disrupt the connection process.

  4. Check Compatibility: Ensure your network settings are compatible with the sensors, especially concerning the frequency band (2.4GHz) and security settings.

If you encounter continuous issues, it might be helpful to reset the sensors and follow the device-specific instructions available in your user manuals or the Aqara Home app. Don’t hesitate to ask the community for further advice or share your experiences!

@clsasonni It’s unfortunate to hear your sensors are offline after the network change. Let’s try to troubleshoot step by step.

First, confirm the new 2.4GHz network settings: ensure the Wi-Fi name and password don’t contain special characters, as these can cause connection issues . If your router is a mixed or dual-band integrated type, make sure the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks have different names and passwords .

Next, check if your gateway (hub) is online. Zigbee sensors rely on the gateway, so if the gateway is offline, the sensors will be too . If the gateway is offline, reconnect it to the new 2.4GHz network first.

For the sensors themselves, if the gateway is online but sensors are still offline, try moving the sensors closer to the gateway (as distance can weaken the signal) and attempt to re-add them through the Aqara Home app .

If the issue persists, you may need to reset the sensors (if applicable) and follow the initial setup process again.

Hope this helps! Feel free to share if you need further clarification.

@clsasonni It’s unfortunate to hear your sensors are offline after the network change. Let’s try to get them reconnected smoothly.

For most Aqara devices, if the network is changed (even from 5GHz to 2.4GHz), the key is to reconfigure the hub first. You can follow the same process as when you initially added the hub: go to “Accessories” in the Aqara Home app, select the plus sign in the upper right, choose your hub, and follow the app instructions to enter the new network information. Once the hub connects successfully, the child devices (like your sensors) and automations should remain associated with the hub, so they may reconnect automatically .

Additionally, ensure the new 2.4GHz network name and password don’t contain special characters, as these can disrupt connections for some devices . If you still face issues, try moving the hub closer to the router temporarily to improve signal strength.

Hope this helps! Feel free to share how it goes or if you need further clarification.
