Hey everyone! I just wanted to share my recent experience shopping for smart home devices during Amazon Prime Day. It was a whirlwind of deals and decisions, and I thought I’d walk through my process in case it helps others.
I started with the intention of picking up some Z-Wave or Z-Wave+ devices, as I’ve been really happy with my existing setup. However, as I browsed, I noticed that a lot of the plugs and sensors available were 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or Homekit-enabled devices. This got me thinking—do these devices make sense for my ecosystem? I’ve heard great things about Homekit, but I’m curious if they’d work seamlessly with my Homey setup without needing a dedicated Homekit bridge or center. From what I understand, using the Homekit app on Homey should allow integration, but I’d love to hear others’ experiences with this.
I ended up picking up a few Homekit devices, including a smart plug and a motion sensor, just to experiment. The prices were too good to pass up, and I’m excited to see how they integrate. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!
