Hey everyone!
I’m really excited to share this project I’m working on. I’ve been tinkering with Hubitat and thought it would be fun to try something a bit different. I’m attempting to create a proof of concept where I use the built-in TTS (Text-to-Speech) alerts from Hubitat to drive an avatar on a central screen I’ve set up. Essentially, I want to pipe the TTS through the avatar to make it animate and speak. If this works, I plan to expand it by adding more speech from other sources. ![]()

Here’s what I’m thinking: The avatar would be displayed on a screen in my living room, and whenever a TTS alert is triggered (like a notification or a scheduled message), the avatar would come to life, speak the message, and maybe even show some simple animations. It’s a bit of a nerdy project, but I think it could be really cool once it’s up and running! ![]()
I’m not entirely sure how to go about connecting the TTS output to the avatar software, though. I know a bit about scripting and automation, but this is a new area for me. If anyone has experience with something similar or knows of any tools or libraries that could help, I’d love to hear your thoughts! ![]()
Would love to hear if anyone else has tried something like this or has any tips to get me started. Let’s make this avatar talk! ![]()
