For example, my Aqara device called “Landing Light 1” is a T2 bulb that’s been working well for some time. When added the device in Aqara App, it was added to Alexa and called “Aqara LED Bulb T2”.
I renamed the device “Landing Light 1” in Alexa.
All worked well for months.
Then I receive a notification from Alexa informing me of a new device called “Aqara LED Bulb T2” and I can then see the Alexa device “Landing Light 1” is no longer there.
Turning on 'Aqara LED Bulb T2" in Alexa turns on “Landing Light 1” in Aqara (the same bulb).
I then rename the bulb “Landing Light 1” in Alexa and all works well and voice activation works.
Then a day later the name changes back to “Aqara LED Bulb T2”.
This is just one example of many Aqara devices I have that’s started to do this over the past week. Could this relate to an update on Aqara app, update of M3 hubs, etc. Or is this likely an Alexa issue?
I’m using the Aqara / Alexa integration and my M3 is also added to Alexa using Matter bridge, as recommended by Aqara due to having old and new style Aqara devices.

Support ticket is created but only a generic answer received so far saying that names are not passed from Aqara to Alexa. That’s ok but are Aqara resending / refreshing their devices to Alexa which is meaning names are lost or could this be an Alexa issue only effecting some Aqara devices?
@2SC_UK From what we have documented, Aqara-to-Alexa integration is mainly about exposing control to Alexa (and Alexa can have feature limitations depending on device type), but there’s nothing in the current reference info that confirms whether Aqara “re-pushes” devices in a way that would overwrite Alexa-side custom names. For example, Aqara devices may only expose basic functions to Alexa (and not all data points), but that doesn’t directly explain name resets. This information comes from community discussions and user experience summaries and may vary by environment. Please verify carefully. (Original post link: not provided.)
So in your case—where Alexa repeatedly “discovers” what looks like the same bulb again under its default name (“Aqara LED Bulb T2”) and your renamed entry disappears—this sounds more like an Alexa-side re-discovery / duplicate-device handling issue (potentially triggered by having both the Aqara Skill integration and a Matter bridge path active for overlapping devices). Unfortunately, I can’t confirm that behavior from the provided reference notes alone.
You seem to be experiencing an issue with Alexa repeatedly re-adding the same Aqara devices and reverting to default device names. You can contact customer support for assistance.
