Apple TV Integration Challenges in Home Assistant

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration and thought I’d share my journey with the Apple TV setup in Home Assistant. I’ve got an Apple TV that’s integrated through two different methods: directly via the Apple TV integration and through my FritzBox router. While it’s been a mostly smooth experience, there’s one hurdle I’m trying to overcome.

When I use the original Apple TV remote to turn it on, Home Assistant doesn’t immediately recognize the status change. It just stays off in HA until I manually toggle it through the Home Assistant interface. Once I do that, everything works seamlessly—play, pause, switching apps, you name it. But that initial status update is a bit of a pain point.

Interestingly, when I turn off the Apple TV using the remote, HA does pick up the status change and updates accordingly. So it’s only the power-on that’s causing the delay. I’m curious if others have encountered this and if there’s a workaround or a setting I might have missed.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Double-checking the integration settings in HA
  • Ensuring the FritzBox is correctly configured
  • Testing with different remotes

If anyone has successfully resolved this or has any tips, I’d love to hear your insights! It would be fantastic to have a fully seamless experience without any manual interventions. Thanks in advance for your help!
