Aqara 1st Anniversary AMA: Ask @Aqara_PM_Donie Anything!

I’d be glad to become a firmware beta tester, since I can’t really use the G350 anyway in its current state.

I can also test it against the development version of the SmartThings edge driver.

  1. Fix the Android dark theme for the home board. There is a bug that the text is currently black too, and you cannot use it with black text on a very dark gray background. Its been like this over multiple app updates now.

  2. For all Aqara cameras consider have a setting to let the camera send an event photo captured as an email. That will let all of us who don’t use Apple products and don’t want to run a home assistant server to get rich notifications and not cost Aqara any server fees sending those. Reolink does that and you can have the camera email the photo to an app called pushover which is $5 for Android and iOS (if you dont buy Homekit Sercure Video). It takes that photo and then makes it into a push notification giving you a rich notification when the camera catches motion or a doorbell is pressed. You could get so many more users without subscription fees and letting them have rich notifications without the hassle of Assistant, which most are not going to set up.

Hello

Thank you for the answer! Although, it is a bit sad to hear that the G400 won’t be getting the update without a dedicated Aqara hub, despite the G400 being brand new.

Looking forward for new Matter 1.5.1 video doorbells that don’t require a dedicated hub :slightly_smiling_face:

I understand NFC was enabled with v3104 so wouldn’t UWB also need to be enabled through another firmware update to the lock? I’ve spoken to Samsung Support through a couple different channels and they’ve all confirmed that as of the April update UWB is enabled via the Samsung Digital Key Framework (v1.5.1.06+) and Google Play Service version (24.12.xx+). Currently my phone is running newer versions of each service.
Reading Samsung’s footnotes in the announcement of Samsung Digital Home Key it also confirms that the services will allow for UWB in April 2026.
