I’m experiencing an issue with Aqara devices and Alexa routines:
Aqara skill is activated and linked correctly
All Aqara devices are recognized by Alexa
A routine triggered when motion is detected works correctly
A routine triggered when motion has not been detected for X minutes does not work
The interesting part is that the “no motion detected for X minutes” trigger used to work for me about a year ago. Since then, it no longer seems to work properly, although the devices and the Aqara/Alexa integration themselves are working.
Has anyone else experienced this issue recently? Is there a known limitation or change in the Aqara/Alexa integration affecting the “no motion for X minutes” condition?
It would also be good to know if this is an issue on the Aqara side or Amazon side
Any suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.
Started yesterday for no reason, but all my routines work and my p1 detect motion to turn lights/switches on, however none of the routines to turn them off from no detection seems to be working.
I’ve tried resetting all motions, hubs, Alexa etc. it’s clearly an issue with the motion sensors as other Aqara products in my Alexa routines are working fine.
Routines with “detects no motion for x minutes” don’t work for me either.
If you search for “Alexa no motion detected routine not working” on Google, you’ll find lots of posts from 2022. It seems that this problem has occurred before, or is still occurring.
It seems no one has found a real solution. There are only workarounds, such as setting it to 0 minutes and adding “wait x minutes” under “Alexa, will…".
My door sensors are all working but it’s just the monitor sensors p1 for some reason has stopped.
I have reported it and however Aqara will provide support.
Thank you for the suggestion on setting detect to 0 minutes and creating a wait time in Alexa. This has fixed the problem for they are now all running again!!
Thank you for sharing this workaround. But if you are in a room let’s say kitchen or bathroom. There is a routine which triggers motion. But with a slight no motion than it still triggers to turn off lights with wait time. How do you ensure it’s not turned off when still in the room?
That’s what I meant when I said there’s no real solution. The downside of this workaround is that the timer and the light turning off are triggered immediately if the sensor doesn’t detect anyone for even less than a second.
So if you’re walking back and forth between two rooms, it gets a bit crazy because the light will be constantly turning on and off.
If possible, disable the automation in Alexa and create the automation in Aqara Home instead.
