Aqara and openHAB - married by Claude and other AI

Hey guys,

first of all: I am not keen on writing code and tinkering with technical equipment. I had some IT courses with Turbo Pascal about 30 years ago at school and later built my own PCs at home - and I built my own house (but not in electricity I only put the wires into the walls and didn’t connect anything. That’s all my experience in such things… :wink: So I am very far from being a professional in either IT or electricity. Nevertheless I have dreamed of creating a smart home (without any restrictions, paid plans and such things) system for years - and quicly got to the point when my skills were not enough for putting my ideas into practice.

A few months ago I have started using AI (Claude) and found out that it is a big plus in getting especially complicated things done quite easily. After telling Claude what I want to do with openHAB and Aqara (as well as some other brands I am using in my smart home), AI has become a real gamechanger for me. Starting from the initial setup it was “the professional IT nerd” sitting next to me for hours, everytime asking the right questions and just tinkering all my crazy ideas into working code. We created maps that show exactly my whole property with all windows, doors etc., talked about where to put sensors (and even which sensors!), discussed about the best options for video door bells and their wiring and so much more.

Since Claude AI was such a big help for me and it offers endless opportunites, I would like to get in touch with you about your experience using AI and smart home products. I guess that showing your projects to each other could be a very fruitful exchange of ideas. So I am looking forward to learn more about your smart ideas for a smart home and how AI helped you creating it. :slight_smile:
