Just wanted to start a discussion and share my recent experience setting up a complete home security system using Aqara hardware integrated into Apple HomeKit.
I recently picked up 4x Aqara G100 cameras along with the Aqara G4 Video Doorbell. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how smooth the HomeKit integration would be, but the whole setup has been completely flawless so far. Zero connectivity issues, instant notifications, and smooth streaming via HomeKit Secure Video.
Building a fully reliable, end-to-end video surveillance system for under £150 feels like an absolute steal compared to more traditional or expensive setups.
How has your experience been with Aqara products in HomeKit?

For those interested in the technical side, it’s worth noting that HomeKit cameras with IP addresses can stream video and audio directly to devices within the same local network, with streams encrypted using randomly generated keys exchanged within a secure HomeKit session. This ensures that your footage remains private and secure, whether you’re viewing it at home or remotely through a home hub.

I feel like there are a couple of gaps in the lineup here. The existing cameras are awesome, but I’d love to see some smaller POE compatible outdoor cameras as well as some pan and/or pan/tilt options too.
