i´m using the sensor since 6 months now, tried to calibrate, reset and reconfigure it multiple times already, but my experience with detection is not good.
Often, the sensor either does not detect me walking inside the zone, or is delayed for like up to minutes. The sensor is mounted in an edge, pointing to the door in the other edge of the room. When entering, often the light does not turn on. I´m using it in combination with home assistant, through the home kit integration.
How is your experience with this sensor? Is there anything i can do to improve the detection experience?
Well this sensor is very powerful and also needs time to adjust but more important when sensor happens to not see you to see ghosts you need to steep out from that zone and run the AI detection every time for a few days so the AI can learn more about that zone.now you also need to have an stable WiFi connection because if you WiFi is not very stable that could lead on delays.also make sure you made your zone well as aqara app shows when you first set it up.I have the FP2 since last month I think and I also had some issues with ghosting but I asked aqara support to downgrade it as the latest firmware update have some issues with recognize the interferences and sometimes not even see me leaving the zone.sow make sure to have the master update of aqara home app and if you can’t manage to making working correctly try contacting aqara support and explain your issue.i do not use HA the automations I have regarding the FP2 are made on aqara home app even if I do have it on HomeKit and 2 days ago I tweak a bit my zone and since then it works perfectly.
The timing is what stands out to me. In my experience these sensors don’t hesitate. When mine gets it wrong, it gets it wrong instantly. My kitchen light occasionally drops out with someone still standing there, but it happens right away, never after a pause. A delay of minutes sounds like something in the chain behind the sensor rather than the radar itself.
So before changing any more settings, walk into the room while watching the live view in the Aqara app. If the figure follows you across the map immediately, the sensor is fine and the lag sits elsewhere, quite possibly in the HomeKit bridge or the network. If nothing appears there either, it really is detection, and that needs a different set of fixes.
What improved things here was placement, not sensitivity. My sensors sit at roughly two metres, which is on the high side, and the FP2 hangs from a ceiling light outlet in a printed frame. Getting the angle right mattered far more than anything I changed in the app. Your corner position aiming diagonally at a door in the opposite corner is demanding geometry, because the exact spot where you want detection sits at the outer edge of both range and viewing angle. That is where I would start experimenting.
One other thing that caught me out early on: check whether your interference areas have swallowed the doorway. I drew mine generously to kill some ghosting and then wondered for a while why walking in no longer triggered anything.
