Has anyone been able to setup G100 cameras using RTSP in HomeAssistant (frigate/scrypted) and had a stable and reliable stream? I have tried just about everything myself (and AI) can think of and no luck. Cameras come and go IDK what I can do at this point… Any help would be appreciated !
@7_robots_clang I totally get the frustration—RTSP setups with Home Assistant integrations like Frigate or Scrypted can be finicky, especially when streams keep dropping out. Let me share what I know about the G100’s RTSP implementation and some troubleshooting angles that might help.
The G100 does support RTSP for Home Assistant integration, but there are a few common gotchas that tend to cause unstable connections:
Credential & Network Stability Issues
Based on similar experiences with Aqara cameras, RTSP connection problems often boil down to three things: credentials getting reset after firmware updates or factory resets, DHCP IP changes, or network segmentation issues[“content_id”:5"]. Since you mentioned the cameras “come and go,” this sounds suspiciously like IP address churn—have you checked if the G100 is getting a consistent IP from your router? Setting a static IP or DHCP reservation is usually step one for stable RTSP.
RTSP Setup Basics
For the G100 specifically, you’ll need to grab the RTSP stream URL from the Aqara Home app first. The typical flow involves using a tool like “URL Media Player” to verify the stream, entering your camera’s RTSP link with the username/password, and ensuring everything sits on the same LAN segment[“content_id”:3"].
Frigate/Scrypted Specifics
A couple things that bite people with these integrations:
- The G100’s stream resolution auto-adjusts based on network conditions, which can cause Frigate to reinitialize connections[“content_id”:7"]. If your network has any instability, this creates a drop/reconnect loop.
- WPA3 support is there, but some routers handle this poorly with persistent RTSP streams[“content_id”:4"]. If you’re on WPA3, try testing with WPA2 temporarily.
Quick diagnostic questions:
- Are you running the G100 on 2.4GHz or 5GHz? (It’s 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 6 only[“content_id”:4"], so congestion on that band could be a factor)
- Have you checked the Aqara Home app to see if the camera shows offline there when Frigate loses it?
- Any pattern to the drops—specific times, after motion events, or completely random?
If you’ve already exhausted the standard troubleshooting and the instability persists, this might need deeper technical investigation. You can reach out to the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile > Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:
This will be more efficient. If you do not have an Aqara Home account, please click here to create a ticket.
Would love to hear if any of this helps—or if you’ve already tried these angles, what’s your current network setup looking like? Sometimes it’s the combo of router + Wi-Fi conditions + integration settings that creates the perfect storm.
Same here. I have it streaming to a UGREEN NAS via RTSP, but it constantly stops the stream, just like the Doorbell G410. There’s no workaround other than restarting or power-cycling them.
I have two G5s on the same network, and they work like a charm. They never stop streaming the RTSP feed to the NAS.
