New at the forum, since a few years fan of Aqara products. Started with the M2, Double Rocker and some sensors. Connected trough the M2 to Homekit, right now I’m using Home Assistant. Connected al Aqara accessoires, when possible, directly to Home Assistant with Zigbee.
I do have three that aren’t, the G400, G2H Pro and the G100. Off course those are connected within HomeKit after adding them to the Aqara app.
A question; received my G100 last weekend, added it by using the Aqara app, than connected to HomeKit and created a RTSP for Home Assistant.
But the mic is very very very shitty and it sounds like it’s under water or something. Reset the device mutiple times but no postive result. Trough Home Assistant, Aqara app and HomeKit same shitty noise.
With the other camera’s no issues. What to do next? Send it back to the reseller because of DoA or any other options?
Tried that also! Started with a 20w power brick USB-C from Apple and directly in the power plug, issues. Now using it with a power exetension cord also, still issues. Tried another power brick, Native Union 35w and also the same.
Even voices aren’t that clear because all the “sound, crackling etc”.
Using the G2h Pro Hub thing with USB-A and the most cheap power brick I could find in my house and those sounds are that nice and clear… :-p
Same here, again. For a few days a new camera acting quite normal, bought a second one and both are making very ugly and irritating noise. Voices from people can’t even heard, speaking trough the camera is quite impossible.
I guess those cameras are, also of the pricing, not quite that standard and good as normal Aqara products. Disappointed for now
Just adding that I also have an Aqara G100 and its audio sounds exactly like you describe. Underwater, screeching, unusable. It’s like they applied a very heavy compressor to the audio to boost it and then a noise processor on top of that to reduce unwanted sound but it’s a total failure. The result is overwhelmingly artifact and very little usable signal. G100 is a decent cheap camera otherwise but unless they issue a fix for the audio anyone who wants audio recorded should stay away.
I also have an E1 camera and it does not have this issue. The audio it records is a little low level, not the best, but it is fairly clean.
I bought 4 of these awful G100 cameras, they are useless, in a quiet room they have audio compression artifacts that sounds like a badly over compressed mp3, hiss, bleeps and bloops constantly, it’s quiet but it’s there.
During events the picture freezes and skips recording, even with a class 10 memory card set to continuous recording the video is unusable, it always skips recording when there is action you want to capture and resumes after the movement, useless.
When the room is not quiet the audio is choppy and again unusable, dropping out during events, clicking and cutting out constantly, the automatic gain on the microphone is also terrible, the audio it does capture is either way too loud to the point it’s distorted, or its so quiet it’s inaudible, swinging wildly between the two extremes.
I really wish I hadn’t bought 4 of them.
I use RTSP with 2 of them and the stream is also quite unstable, I have to go in to the aqara app and turn it off and on again 4 or 5 times a day because the stream has frozen.
Worst cameras I have ever bought, if I could return them I would but it was a couple of months ago now, I didn’t get the chance to set them up when I bought them, but now I have they are not fit for purpose.
Am actively looking for something better but I doubt it will be an aqara camera.
Just got two from apple store. had exactly the same issue – very distorted sound recording. Can we escalate the issue? otherwise it is a perfect camera
Have 4 of these cameras and they all do the same thing, whether inside or outside. Inside, even with lack of any sound, it will be like a weird robotic sound. I’ve uploaded a sample from a basement camera. As other’s have suggested, tried to swap out USB cables and chargers, but it’s still the same issue. Unusable.
Firmware for my cameras (black or white version) is 4.5.20_0020. Was hoping that latest 0020 would help solve some of the audio issues, but it has not.
Sorry, friends, I just saw this post and I think it’s a serious issue. Could you please provide me with some G100 recorded video or audio clips that contain noise? I will arrange for optimization and provide firmware upgrades.
