Aqara G3 Camera: The Ultimate Smart Home Hub Review & Demo

I’m thrilled to share this in-depth review of the Aqara G3 Camera by Paul Hibbert from Hibbert Home Tech. This video showcases how the G3 Camera not only serves as a security device but also as a versatile smart home hub with impressive features like Zigbee integration, face recognition, and geofencing. It’s a must-watch for anyone exploring advanced smart home solutions!

The Aqara G3 Camera is packed with innovative features. It includes a built-in Zigbee hub supporting up to 128 Aqara devices, infrared control capabilities, and face recognition for privacy shutter automation. Additionally, it integrates seamlessly with Alexa and Google Home, offering quick loading times on devices like the Amazon Echo Show. The camera also boasts geofencing for location-based routines and free cloud storage for motion clips.

While the video highlights the G3’s strengths, it also touches on limitations, such as the inability to use both face recognition and gesture recognition simultaneously, and the lack of support for non-Aqara Zigbee devices. A comparison with the Easyviz camera is included, focusing on image quality versus feature set.

What are your thoughts on the Aqara G3 Camera? Have you considered integrating a smart camera into your home setup? Share your experiences or questions below!

I’m interested on buying one but I need to know if I can activate and deactivate privacy mode with automations based on geofencing. Thanks in advance.

Yes, and if you prefer Apple’s geofencing, you can create two scenes in the Aqara app - one turns on the camera, second one turns it off. And thanks to HomeKit integration, those scenes will be synced to Apple Home. And when they’re synced - you can use them in Home app to make automations like “when anyone leaves home then activate scene”.

You might also be interested in the new G350 camera hub, which has some new features that the G3 doesn’t have (like 9x zoom, 4K video and much wider lens)

Thanks for the detailed answer. Actually I’m in Google Home ecosystem and I’m ok to use the feature in the Aqara Home if Google won’t have full integration. The G3 seems fine for me, also for the price.
