Aqara G350 recording schedule query

Just received the new G350 camera and first impressions are quite good, but I would like to have it record motion at night only.

It seems the only options are continuous and event, and both of these are recording all day when any movement is detected, and then there is stop recording.

Is there any way of recording only at night when you go to bed.

Also when stop recording is selected if you arm the alarm when going out will it record at all.

I’m only using an sd card, not the Aqara cloud.

Thanks.

Hello, welcome to the forum.
You can choose a security option that will notify about a person only during the “left home” mode. Lesson 1 describes how to make a security panel in the application. Lesson 2 sets up the “not at home” security trigger. Lesson 1 Setting up the security system APP (adding a card with a security panel).
You also need to turn off notifications in the settings of the camera’s APP plugin.

The automation option is to create such automation. Fig. 1 .

This is just one of the options I have proposed for night recording of the camera. Be sure to select the parameters that I have marked in red.

If you want to “dive” into the world of automation 2.0 and understand it, here is a link to my lessons. Automation 2.0 Tutorial Collection - Lesson 1 report

Oh wow, thanks very much for this detailed information, I will try and set this up.

And I will read some of your other guides as well.

Much appreciated.

I’m following your example but I don’t see the “ take effect every day at a certain time”

So does mean every day at 22:00 if the camera off then turn it on.
And every day at 7:00 if it’s on then turn it off.

Will this example record motion / people between 22:00 - 7:00

Yes, the recording will be done if you choose the settings I recommended in the first answer.

Ok, you mean following your screenshots, but I don’t see this appear in the red box, and the time ranges are different to 22:00 and 7:00

What I’m trying to achieve is have the camera on all the time, but only record movement / people during the night, between midnight and 6am.

And also use the basic guard, away / disarm options when we go out, this bit is already done I believe as I added the camera to my door and motion sensors basic guard.

These parameters are set only in automation. I made you a universal On/Off automation. Most users don’t even know that you can do this. And the time you ask is in the IF condition, just to combine two automations into one😊

You came home, turned off the camera.
The time came 22.00 - the camera (time range 21.00-23.00) turned on.
The morning came (time range 06.00-07.00) - the camera turned off.
I just chose an arbitrary range so that it fell between 22.00 and 07.00

I don’t see an IF condition in automations, only WHEN, AND, THEN.

Sorry I’m struggling to get my head round this :weary:

I have improved the automation so that the camera On/Off mode works in any case. To avoid confusion, I have reduced the range for the cameras so that you understand the principle of automation.

Thanks for tweaking it, sorry for all the questions but why would the camera be off, mine is on all the time. And why the take effect time ranges.

I see now the time ranges come from the 3 dots on the right hand side.

So I have made an automation by asking Gemini, and done this, probably wrong I know, the only thing is there is no record to sd card option only to the cloud, so as I have the cloud turned off I’m not sure if it will default to sd card.

Why turn off the cloud? It provides you with event recording for at least 24 hours. Select the events that should be recorded in the cloud in the settings that I showed you.

Recording will be continuous, depending on your choice.

I don’t want to save anything to the cloud, I prefer to use the local storage option.

It’s only a trail period then there is a cost per month which I don’t want to subscribe to.

As such, not everything is stored in the cloud, only events are stored in the cloud, you set the length of the event yourself. Believe me, it is very, very convenient.

The permanent period allows storage for one day, this is completely for quick viewing. Everything else can be viewed on the SD card.

Yes that’s the thing, I don’t want to record all the time to the sd card, only during motion at night, or when I set the security guard to away mode when I go out.

Does not seem straight forward unfortunately, or even possible to achieve.

In contrast my other camera had a recording schedule built in, so it was a 30 sec setup.

You can select this option here.

For your information, this setting is valid not only for cloud but also for local storage.

Just so you understand, only those services with a shield are paid.

I tried that when I got the camera but the camera is always recording to the local storage so would fill up in no time, I know it can overwrite but still it records continuously, I don’t want it recording when I’m home pottering about.
