- Reset both the doorbell and the USB connected device multiple times successfully
- Restarted router, set it to 2.4 GHz only, password has no “special characters”
- Unplugged and replugged the doorbell each time
- Reinstalled the Aqara app
- Created a new home in the Aqara app
- Restarted my phone multiple times
- Had various “Wifi connecting” and then either “Accessory is not reachable”, “Authentication failed”, “Account binding failed”
I know that this is going to be answered by a bot, which Aqara probably thinks is clever customer service.
I have no interest anymore in resolving this after reading all the other forum posts about issues with G4 connectivity. All the “solutions” are ways for Aqara to shift the responsibility for fixing the obvious issues to the customer:
- Your software should never depend on the customer setting up a password without special characters. Why the heck does it actually care? Are you storing that password in plaintext somewhere, with an ancient encoding?
- Your software should never depend on a WiFi network only being 2.4Ghz
- Your software should generally work and be tested for various scenarios
So really what this means is:
- My Aqara G4 is a brick
- I will never buy an Aqara product again
- I will recommend everyone I know who has the slightest interest in smart home accessories to never buy Aqara
Consider that the consequence of bad software and bad customer service. Bye.
