I am using the Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G4. According to the specs, it should operate from -18°C to +50°C. However, I keep getting a “high temperature” warning even when the outside temperature is only around 30°C.
The device is installed outdoors and it’s currently summer here. I understand direct sunlight can heat the unit beyond the ambient temperature, but the warning appears even on warm but not extreme days.
Is this a known issue? Should I do something about it?
I helped my friend install the G4 doorbell week ago. She had the same high temperature alert too. It is under the sun in the afternoon. But the outside temperature was like 27C. Don’t think it is over 50.
I have installed the G4 on my main door where the direct sun rarely hits it.
The outside temperature is in the region of 26-30 c
This has started happening since about a month.
Even at night when the temperature falls I get the temperature too high alert.
Is there a solution to this?
If the sun directly shines on to it it’s not unlikely that it reaches that temperature. Have you tried putting a thermometer right next to it and see what it reports?
Hi, I also have one outside, and at around 30ºC I get high-temperature alerts because it gets direct sunlight. It’s completely natural for it to heat up, especially considering that the shell is black, if it was white, it would be different.
