aqara g410 motion detection from rain/snow sending notifications for every drop/flake
OK, so it appears that it was the Apple HomeKit App on my Apple devices notifying me of [motion] while the aqara app was not because it is specific to face detection, doorbell ring, tamper alarm, and lingerer detection.
Is this correct? Does Aqara NOT send any unspecified motions like snow, rain, spider, or bird, that the sensor sees?
I would appreciate this before I replace more Ring cameras at my families homes.
Thanks
HomeKit uses its own detection and settings. For example, the G2H camera can recognize faces, but only in Apple Home, because the recognition is done by your Apple hardware.
In this case, youâre probably right - itâs the Apple Home checking the stream and detecting motion, or the doorbell camera being activated by motion and Aqara firmware decides to ignore it (because itâs not a human) and the Apple Home deciding itâs worth of a notification.
You can disable notifications in Apple Home by going to camera settings in Apple Home > Status and notifications.
Aqara and Apple are two different systems, and motion detection notifications work differently in each.
In the Apple Home app, you can configure this under Home Settings â Cameras & Doorbells â [select your doorbell] â Notifications. It is best to change the default setting from Any Motion is Detected to Specific Motion is Detected and then select whether you want to receive notifications for People, Animals, Vehicles, or Packages.
The answer is âNo, it can send notifications for any motion that is not specified.â if youâre referring to the Apple Home app, but you can set it up for notificationsâjust not for triggers in automations.
In the Aqara Home app, you can find these settings under Accessories â [select your doorbell] â three dots in the top right â scroll to âDetection Settingsâ â âAI Detectionâ and/or âNotificationsâ. Here, you can choose between Face Detection, Doorbell Ringing, Tamper Alarm, and Lingerer Detection. Please note that Lingerer Detection is not the same as standard motion detection and always reacts with a delay, even if you set the delay to 0 seconds.
The answer is âYes, it does not send any unspecified motions.â, if you are limited to the Aqara Home app.
In theory, you can also integrate the doorbell camera into other systems like Home Assistant and analyze the footage using tools like Frigate or LLM Vision. With LLM Vision, you can have an AI evaluate the camera images and use prompts to inquire about any imaginable situationâranging from âthere is a naked man running through the gardenâ to âlaundry is hanging on the line and dark clouds are rolling inâ.
Important: If you activate face recognition in one or more ecosystems, you must upload the photos of faces into each respective system. Face recognition data is processed independently by every system.
