Aqara h2 shutter switch tilt option

Tilt option for shades is really important feature, you should implement it. This is how we use our shades

We basically use four shade positions:

  • Fully open – We use this position when there is no direct sunlight on the window.
  • Fully closed with maximum tilt – We use this state when sleeping or in the evening for privacy.
  • Fully closed with minimum tilt – We use this mode when there is direct sunlight. It’s difficult to see the monitor when working from home, but we still want enough natural light.
  • Fully closed – We rarely use this mode. It’s mostly when someone is sick and needs to sleep during the day, or when we’re cleaning the shades. Some people may also use it for sleeping.

I bought the Dual Relay Module T2, which only supports up/down control, and after a few days I decided to switch to the Shelly 2PM Gen4 – only because it has a tilt option. I would do the same with the H2 shutter switch, but since I have it combined with many H2 light switches, it’s more complicated. The only reason I would consider another switch is the missing tilt option. I know it can be done by pressing the button manually, but that’s the same as using a dumb switch.

In the video, you can see the difference in HomeKit between:

  • Shelly 2PM Gen4
  • Aqara Dual Relay Module T2
  • Aqara H2 Shutter Switch

I’ve also added screenshots from the Shelly app, where you can see how I control the shades and set up the tilt option.

I’m a big Aqara fan – I started with the first version of the Aqara Hub. Currently, I have 46 devices installed and about 30 more waiting to be set up (I recently moved to a new house and haven’t had the time yet). I usually recommend Aqara to my friends, but without the tilt feature, I cannot recommend the H2 shutter switch to anyone. And since many people combine it with light switches, they’ll probably choose another brand for both shutters and lights.

Hopefully, you can implement this feature – it would be awesome.

Thank you.
