Aqara Home Automation: Real-life Stories and How-tos

So I finally decided to share a bit about my Aqara setup journey — from clueless to kinda addicted. I started small, just a motion sensor and a door sensor, but now my apartment feels straight out of a sci-fi movie.

Here’s one of my fav automations: when I unlock the front door with my Aqara N100 lock, it triggers a scene where the hallway light turns on (via the motion sensor detecting I came in), and then the air purifier and speaker switch on. Feels like the house is saying “welcome back, human.” Super slick.

Another one I love — I’ve set a rule where if no motion is detected in the living room for 30 minutes AND the TV plug (via Aqara smart plug) shows 0 watt usage, it auto-turns off the fan and lights. Lazy evening saver, seriously.

Took me a while to figure out how to stack conditions and use the Aqara app scenes effectively. The geo-fencing part still acts weird sometimes though — like I’m home but lights won’t kick on. Anyone else run into that?

Anyway, just throwing this out there — would love to hear how y’all are using Aqara in creative ways. Got any “why didn’t I think of that” automations? Hit me with your fav setups. Let’s inspire each other to geek out more.

@GoogleHomeGuru Your journey from being “clueless to kinda addicted” to Aqara home automation is truly inspiring! It’s amazing how you’ve transformed your space into a futuristic haven. The automation with your Aqara N100 lock and motion sensor sounds incredibly welcoming—like your home is greeting you personally.

The setup with the smart plug and motion detection to save energy in the living room is a clever use of technology to enhance comfort and efficiency. And yes, while the Aqara app’s automation capabilities are robust, getting the hang of stacking conditions can indeed take some time. Geofencing can be a bit finicky depending on various factors, like device settings or connectivity, but it’s great to hear you’re exploring these features.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Your creativity is contagious, and I’m sure it will inspire others in the community. If anyone else has creative Aqara setups or tips to share, feel free to jump in—let’s keep the ideas flowing!
