Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating the Aqara Hub M1S Gen 2 and setting up Google Assistant with Home Assistant. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’ve learned a lot along the way!
First, I replaced my old Aqara Hub with the new M1S Gen 2. The process was surprisingly smooth. I followed these steps:
- Removed the old hub from the Aqara app.
- Plugged in the new hub and waited for it to boot up.
- Added the new hub to the Aqara app.
- Re-added all my devices with their names and rooms.
- Restarted Home Assistant to ensure everything was recognized.
After about 45 minutes, the hub showed up in Home Assistant as a HomeKit controller. Using the provided code from the hub, I successfully integrated it into HA. It’s great to have everything working again without any major issues!
Now, onto the Google Assistant setup. This part was a bit tricky for me. I’ve been trying to connect my HA instance with Google Assistant without using Nabu Casa. I have a static IP and can access HA externally, but I kept running into issues during the integration process. Every time I tried to link my HA with Google, it would either time out or show an error. I followed the official guide multiple times, but nothing seemed to work.
One thing I noticed is that the integration screen kept looping, and I couldn’t get past the login step. It was frustrating because I knew my HA was accessible. I ended up using Nabu Casa as a temporary solution, but I really want to get the native integration working. If anyone has tips or common issues they’ve encountered with this, I’d love to hear them!
Overall, I’m happy with how the Aqara Hub integration went, but the Google Assistant part is still a puzzle for me. I hope sharing my experience can help someone else avoid the same pitfalls. Thanks for reading, and happy automating! ![]()
