Aqara Hub Integration with Home Assistant

I recently decided to integrate my Aqara M2 hub with Home Assistant, but I encountered some issues that I thought I’d share and see if anyone else has experienced the same. When attempting to add the Aqara M2 hub through the settings, I consistently received an error message: ‘Failed to discover a Xiaomi Aqara Gateway, try using the IP of the device running HomeAssistant as interface.’

At first, I was a bit puzzled. I had followed the instructions to the letter, ensuring that the hub was within range and that all necessary permissions were granted. After some research, I found that specifying the IP address of the Home Assistant instance as the interface for discovery resolved the issue. It seems that the default discovery method wasn’t working as expected, but manually entering the IP worked like a charm!

I’d love to hear if others have faced similar challenges or if there are alternative solutions that might be more seamless. It’s also interesting to note how these small hiccups can sometimes highlight the importance of understanding the underlying configuration details. Overall, I’m happy to have the Aqara M2 integrated and contributing to my smart home setup. It’s a reliable device, and with a bit of troubleshooting, everything is running smoothly now.
