Aqara M3 + D1 + HomeKit/Matter – Cannot Get Both AC and Switch to Display Correctly in Apple Home

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with Aqara M3 when integrating with Apple Home, and I’m trying to get both the air conditioner and the D1 switch to display properly at the same time.

Here’s my setup and the problem:

  1. I paired the air conditioner to the Aqara M3 successfully by M3 AC mode.
  2. When I bind the M3 using Matter:
  • The air conditioner appears correctly in Apple Home.
  • But each button on the D1 switch shows up as TWO accessories (one light + one switch).
  • The button names are not synced.
  • The accessory type cannot be modified in Apple Home.
  1. When I bind the M3 to Apple Home using HomeKit mode:
  • The D1 switch works and displays correctly.
  • However, the air conditioner does NOT appear in Apple Home.

What I want to achieve:

  • The air conditioner appears correctly in Apple Home.
  • The D1 switch buttons display properly (only one accessory per button, correct name, correct type).

Has anyone experienced this?
What is the correct way to configure M3 so that both the AC and D1 switch display properly in Apple Home?

Thanks in advance!

I think exposing the AC via M3 is Matter-exclusive feature.

And unfortunately yes, it’s a known issue that you cannot change the device type when you connect the M3 to Apple Home via Matter. There is no solution, although some people suggested changing the device type via Device Card and then connecting to Apple Home via Matter, although it didn’t work for me.

And unfortunately, the names don’t synchronize using Matter. And apart from that, the room assignment also doesn’t sync.

But I actually have different device names in Apple Home because I use Siri. So the devices in my Apple Home are just names in a way that makes it easier to me to communicate with Siri.
