I’ve had issues connecting the Aqara P1 Motion Sensor to my home assistant integration. It will connect but then fall offline in about a day. I think it falls off when it tries to route through a router. I then reconnected it to my C5 hubitat hub and its stayed connected. Anyone else have this issue?
@andywreid It sounds like you’re dealing with a connectivity issue that might be related to the distance or interference between your Aqara Motion Sensor P1 and the router or hub. Here are a few steps that might help stabilize the connection:
-
Proximity to Hub: Ensure the sensor is not too far from the Hub. The signal weakens with distance, which can cause disconnection issues. It seems like your C5 hubitat hub is maintaining a stronger connection, which might be due to a closer proximity or better compatibility.
-
Signal Interference: Try to minimize any potential interference. Avoid placing the sensor on metal surfaces or in areas where Wi-Fi signals might be obstructed by walls or other electronic devices.
-
Battery Check: Ensure that the sensor’s battery is not low. A weak battery can cause frequent disconnections. Replacing the battery could help if it’s running low.
-
Network Configuration: If the sensor routes through a router, ensure that the router settings are optimized for the sensor’s connection. Sometimes, specific configurations might hinder stable connections.
Since your C5 hubitat hub seems to maintain a stable connection, it might be worth continuing to use it if possible. If these suggestions don’t resolve the issue, it could be beneficial to further explore your home assistant integration settings or consult with the community for additional insights. Feel free to share how it goes or any other discoveries you make!
@andywreid It’s understandable that the frequent offline issue with your Aqara Motion Sensor P1 is frustrating. According to the reference information, possible reasons for the Aqara Motion Sensor P1 going offline frequently include: 1. The accessory is too far away from the Hub; 2. Low battery or dead battery; 3. The accessory is installed on a metal surface and the signal is interfered . Since it stays connected when reconnected to your C5 Hubitat hub, factors like the distance from the original hub, signal interference, or battery status might be worth checking. Have you noticed any of these situations in your setup? It would be helpful to hear if other community members have encountered similar issues and shared their solutions.
