Aqara P100 multi sensor does not work in orientation mode

Just got the new P100 multi sensor and been testing it, the movement mode seems to work, but the orientation mode does not, so if I pick it straight up vertically, or move it horizontal or tilt it, it does not detect this.

This mode is used for horizontal, vertical and tilting states.

I tried the calibration option, I took the battery out, I even changed the reporting interval to 5 sec. No change at all.

The firmware says it’s up to date and I’m using zigbee mode with the M3 hub.

Any ideas please.

Hi, have you selected the monitoring mode? I showed you how to select it here in lesson 25. Fig.1-4 Automation 2.0, lesson 25, P100 sensor as a doorbell in England

Hi, thanks for the quick response.

Yes I set it all up correctly as soon as I got it out the box.

As per your guide for picture numbered 4 I select the orientation option, as apposed to the triple tap.

Hello! When you say the rotation function dose not work, do you mean that you have never seen it report any orientation-related information? Perhaps the rotation function was not properly activated. You can try turning off the rotation function and then turning it on again to prevent the failure configuration last time.

Additionally, the device currently only reports orientation after detecting that it is completely stationary (if held in hand, it is generally hard to be completely still). If you rotate it and then return it to its original position, there indeed won’t be an posture change reported. This issue will be optimized in the next version, at least reporting a tilt once during the process when the device flips from a non-tilted state and returns to its original position.

Hi, thanks for coming back to me.

I’ve been discussing the issue with Aqara support and it turns out for the orientation or vibrate options to work you need the movement option enabled as well, otherwise they do not work.

I know this might sound obvious I guess but I assumed each option was individual, so have suggested that movement auto enables if you select one of the other two.
