Aqara Thermostat Hub W200 – Be the First to Try, Share Insights & Earn Rewards!

Unfortunately, it looks like latest firmware (4.5.45_0004) has no fan control via Matter. It may also be Home Assistant at fault. I have my W200s paired with Apple Home as well, and there is no fan control there either.

Pretty clear to me that fan control for the W200 is not implemented over Matter. I reported this during the trial and hope it gets added. In the meantime, here’s a workaround:

  • In the Aqara app, create a scene or scenes that sets the fan to on, auto, timer, and/or cycle.
  • Go to Profile > Connect to Ecosystems > Matter > Scene and Signal Sync > Scene Sync.
  • Tap “Add Sync”
  • Select the Scene(s) and tap “Add to Matter”

This will create switch(es) shared over Matter. In Home Assistant, they will appear under Connected Devices if you go to the W200 device page.

When you turn on that switch, it will trigger that fan mode and automatically reset that switch back to off.

Thanks for this. However, my app shows “Auto”, “Normally Open”, “Timer”, and “Cycle”. Does “Normally Open” = “On”?

Yup, normally open = on. I hope they correct all the spots where it says open/closed instead of on/off.

I hope “Limited Trial” isn’t a sign of things to come. If they charge me a subscription to turn my fan on and off, I’m going back to Ecobee.

If they charge a sub for this, I will just create virtual switches and sensors in Home Assistant and push them into Aqara app using Matterbridge. Basically the same solution implemented from the other side.

I just recently bought and installed the new W200 . I Come from using last 3 ecobee models over the years .
One thing I have to say is I am bit disappointed by the fact you can’t set a schedule and also be able to use the Apple‘s adaptive temperature. I run a home office and yes, I’m in quite a bit. I do leave and would love to just have the temperature change when I leave, but also be able to schedule for times of day and night when I want the temperature to change

. I guess I may have to play with adaptive schedule from Apple and see if it works for me. All the trim in my home has flat black so I decided match it all.

I ran into the same situation - wanting the more granular control of temps while at home that Aqara mode offers, but also wanting the auto home/away of Apple’s Adaptive Temperature mode.

I decided it was easiest to implement my more granular schedule in Aqara Scheduling Mode, then use Apple Home automations to change the W200 to the Away preset when I leave and Home when I return. I wish there was a “return to schedule” option for when I return, but there isn’t.

You can get the presets into Apple Home by creating scenes for each preset and add them via “Add to Siri Shortcuts” or “Add to Apple Home” depending on how you want to do it.

You can instead do this with geolocation automations in Aqara Home, but I prefer to use Apple’s device geolocation for everything (Apple/Home Assistant/Aqara/etc) for consistency.

I’ve had zero luck with smart thermostats. Even the nest 3rd gen ended up failing after a couple weeks. Wish I could test this one out.

The ones on the market right now are just a waste of time and usually want a subscription. I’m ready for this game changer

I’ve had three firmware updates to the W200 so far, and as far as features go, I have no clue what has been added. It would still be nice if the fan on/off could be exposed to Matter.
