Hello Aqara Forum - When browsing the Aqara web site I do not see a category for smart plugs for the United States but when I search the site I find it. Smart Plug (US Version) - Aqara
I thought this was kind of strange. Anyone know why this is?
I am looking for a way to extend the distance of my zigbee network. I currently have a Aqara M3 Hub since Jan 2026. It is placed in my 2 level home in the best place for it to work with a vibration sensor in my mailbox so it cannot be moved. I have a P1 motion sensor in my lower level which works more often than not. I think it is a connection issue because of the placement and the construction of my home,
I have read that the Aqara U.S. smart plug acts as an extender for my Aqara zigbee network? Is this true? I really just want it to us an a zigbee extender and I dont really need a plug. It is cheaper than purchasing another M3 Hub. IF IF IF i decided to purchase a 2nd M3 hub for my home would they would together as 1 zigbee mesh network?
Please give me your knowledge and experience concerning the above. I tried contacting Aqara support via their 24 hour chat (AI) multiple times and it doesn’t even come back with a response.
Hello, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, the M3 gateway will not expand the Zigbee network, it does not work in repeater mode. You can buy a smart switch H2 or a smart dimmer H2, it works in repeater mode (condition, work zero + phase).

Hello. Do you mean the M3 hub will not allow a Aqara device that acts as a repeater or mesh extender to perform that function? Sorry but I am confused by your response.
I read the following online.
This is regarding the Aqara U.S. Smart Plug
“ * The plug uses Zigbee (same as your M3 hub)
It is always powered, so it can act as a signal repeater (router)
It becomes part of the mesh network, passing signals between devices”
Also any explanation about where the U.S. Aqara smart plug is not easily found in the Aqara website?
Hello, you misunderstood me. I’m saying that if there are two M3s, they do not work as a repeater of each other in a pair. You need a repeater device connected to one of the two M3s. Example, a large house, M3 (1) at one end of the house + repeater, M3 (2) at the other end of the house + repeater. M3 (1) and M3 (2) “talk” to each other using a common router to which they are attached.
