The device is not responding to the 10 quick presses on the top button. I need to reset and change the protocol to set the value for the external temp sensor.

If you need a factory reset, then here is the algorithm:
Press 2 times, pause, press 10 times the ra button.
If you need a network settings reset, here is the reset algorithm:
Press 2 times, pause, press and hold for 5 seconds.

I had the same problem, and even a factory reset didn’t help — neither the 10x button press nor any other method worked. I ended up replacing it with another one Robert
Did you replace with the same model? The reset works sometimes but the factory reset never.
