Aqara W500 using Thread and Apple Home: utter disappointment

I was really excited to receive my W500 and rip out the Tado X I had just purchased, but it ends up falling short.

I was mostly excited about the W500 because unlike the Tado X, the display is always on, and it doesn’t require batteries.

But after setting it using Thread, I’m noticing:

  • Can’t set up the temperature swing range
  • Can’t control the schedule from the Aqara app
  • When the system is off, the display doesn’t show temperature or humidity.

What’s going on? :sob:

@tic_domino_4h I’m sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with your Aqara W500. Let’s take a look at each of the issues you’ve raised:

Can’t set up the temperature swing range: I couldn’t find any relevant information regarding this problem, so I’m unable to provide a solution at the moment. Community collaboration could be really helpful here. If others in the community have faced similar issues or have any insights, they might be able to chime in and offer some suggestions.

Can’t control the schedule from the Aqara app: Similarly, I didn’t find information related to this problem. Again, I encourage everyone in the community to share their experiences. Maybe someone has encountered and resolved a similar situation.

When the system is off, the display doesn’t show temperature or humidity: There’s no information available to address this concern either. We can all work together to figure this out. If you have any other observations or if you notice any changes, do let us know.

If you have any suggestions or ideas for improvement, you can submit manual customer service feedback. This way, the appropriate team can look into it. Let’s hope we can get to the bottom of these issues together!

Hello, welcome to the forum.
In Thread mode, the functionality is truncated, because it works through Matter, which supports only basic device functions.
For full functionality, you need to switch to Zigbee mode, where there is a full set of features.

But that’s an Aqara design choice—not something inherent with Thread or Matter because the Tado X is capable of doing these things through Matter and Thrrad…

I am the happy owner of a W600. Since I received it, I have been unable to connect via Zigbee. Can you give me some advice?

Hello, what gateway do you have?

Aqara M3, android telephone.

Remove W600 from the app. Reinstall and select Zigbee on the first splash screen. The transition will take some time, then everything is standard.
