I use Aqara leak sensors in the kitchen (dishwasher, stopcock, water softener) and bathrooms. They’ve been reliable so far, but I’d like to hear how others place theirs for maximum coverage and whether you’ve had any false positives or missed leaks.
@imranbaharil It’s wonderful to hear about your positive experience with the Aqara Water Leak Sensors in your kitchen and bathrooms! For optimal placement, you can consider the following tips:
-
Direct Placement: Ensure that the sensors are placed directly on surfaces prone to leaks, such as under appliances or near plumbing connections. This method is straightforward and effective for detecting leaks quickly.
-
Using Probes: If you want to enhance the coverage or adapt to unique setups, you can use a hex screwdriver to loosen the sensor probes and connect them to cables. This setup can help extend the sensor’s reach in more complex or inaccessible areas.
-
Surface Considerations: Keep in mind that installing the sensor on a non-metallic surface will prevent signal interference, ensuring a reliable connection to the Aqara Hub.
Regarding false positives or missed leaks, the Aqara Water Leak Sensor is designed to be quite reliable, meeting IP67 dustproof and waterproof standards. However, regular maintenance, such as checking battery levels and ensuring a stable connection with the hub, can further enhance performance.
I’d love to hear more about your experiences and any specific challenges you’ve faced. Feel free to share your insights or ask additional questions!

I gut false positives every couple of days from one of the two water leaks. Have no idea why.
