Hello everyone, I wanted to share my experience and ask for some advice on setting up an automation that I think many of you might find useful. I’ve been trying to configure my system to automatically arm in away mode during the day if all doors are closed, there’s no motion activity, and the mode is set to home after 60 minutes. While I think I’ve got the basics down, I’m a bit unsure about the trigger settings and whether the delay is configured correctly. I’d love to hear how others have tackled similar scenarios!
One thing I’m particularly cautious about is ensuring the system doesn’t arm while we’re still at home, like when we’re sitting down to watch a movie or taking a nap during the day. It would be frustrating if the system armed itself while we were still in the house, so I want to make sure the logic is solid.
I’ve been experimenting with different trigger conditions, such as combining door status, motion sensors, and time delays. I’ve also considered using mode changes as part of the automation, but I’m not entirely sure how to integrate that seamlessly. Does anyone have a proven setup that they’d be willing to share?
Another thing I’m curious about is whether there are alternative methods or tools within the platform that could make this automation more reliable or efficient. I’ve heard about some advanced rule engines and scene configurations, but I’m not sure how applicable they are to this specific use case.
If anyone has successfully implemented a similar automation, I’d love to hear about your approach, any challenges you faced, and how you overcame them. Your insights could help me refine my setup and ensure it works smoothly without any false triggers.
Looking forward to hearing from you all and learning from your experiences!
