I’m currently in the process of installing blackout curtains in my apartment, and I want to make sure they’re fully integrated into my SmartThings setup. My goal is to control them through the SmartThings app, including adjusting the curtains to specific percentages, creating routines for different modes, and ensuring smooth operation. I have a few questions and would love to hear your recommendations!
First, what motor do you recommend for this setup? I’ve seen both the Aeon Labs Micro Motor Controller and the Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 mentioned, but I’m not sure which one would be best for my needs. I have a USA hub V2, so compatibility is a key factor.
Second, if I go with a 4-cable motor setup (live, neutral, M1, and M2), which controller would you suggest? I’m leaning towards the Fibaro Roller Shutter 2, but I want to make sure it’s the right choice.
Lastly, how can I configure the curtains to adjust to specific percentages? I’d love to create routines like ‘Movie Mode’ where the curtains are fully closed, or ‘Wake Up Mode’ where they open gradually over time. I’ve heard that some users have had success with custom automations, but I’m not entirely sure how to set that up.
If anyone has experience with similar setups or can provide some guidance, I’d really appreciate it! I’m excited to get this project up and running, and I’m sure it’ll make my space even more comfortable and automated.
