Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a fun project I’ve been working on with NFC tags and my home automation setup. I recently received a bunch of NFC tags and I’ve been brainstorming how to integrate them into my smart home. Guess which lights I’m going to automate? 
I’ve always been a fan of using technology to simplify daily routines, and NFC tags seemed like the perfect tool for this. I decided to pair them with a scriptable shortcut that executes an API script I’ve been working on. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but the results are pretty cool!
Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve done:
- Setup: I placed NFC tags near different areas of my home where I frequently interact with lights, like the entryway and living room.
- Automation: Using a scriptable shortcut, I programmed each tag to trigger specific actions, like turning on the hallway lights when I enter or dimming the living room lights when I sit down to relax.
- Customization: I even set up a tag on my coffee table that switches the lights to a warm, cozy setting when I want to wind down in the evening.
The best part? It’s incredibly easy to adjust and customize. If I find a particular setting isn’t working for me, I can tweak the script or reprogram the tag in minutes. This project has really shown me the versatility of NFC tags in home automation.
